Rabbi Gershom Baraza - Rabbinical Administrator

Rabbi Gershom Baraza has lived in Europe, Africa and Asia, and he is currently based in Melbourne, Australia, where he lives with his wife and 4 children.  Rabbi Baraza is known for his extensive scholarship as well as his multicultural and multilingual background that includes full fluency in more than 5 languages.  

Rabbi Baraza obtained Yoreh Yoreh semicha under the auspices of Machon l’Hora’ah, and with the late Rabbi Dovid Schochet as one of his mashmichim. Furthermore, Rabbi Baraza has achieved advanced rabbinical ordination in Mikva'os , and he is currently studying a double Yadin Yadin semicha as well as to become a Posek in Hilchos Nidda at Machon Limmud Halacha. Additionally, Rabbi Baraza recently was appointed as the Mara d'Atra and Rabbi of the Brighton Hebrew Congregation in Melbourne and will start serving in January 2026.

Rabbi Baraza has extensive secular education and holds a BSc in Psychology and MSc in Marketing as well as several postgraduate diplomas in the professional fields such as Digital Marketing and Risk Management. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in professional private enterprises such as ecommerce, tax law, antiques, and luxury markets.

As seen, Rabbi Baraza's background provides him with a unique position to offer excellent advice to companies who are looking to expand into new markets or increase market penetration through kosher certification.

 

 

Rabbinical Field Representatives

At Square Kosher we are proud of enforcing all halachic and kashrus standards at the highest levels. As such, our Rabbinical Administrator personally visits every factory. Further inspections are carried out by rabbinical field representatives or our Rabbinical Administrator and are always presential.

Rabbi Baraza has worked in kosher certification together with the major Kashrus organizations in China and the APAC region for more than 10 years. His experience, qualifications and knowledge allows him to uphold kosher supervision standards to the highest level in complex and ever changing environments. 

All our mashgichim are shomer shabbat, have at least Yoreh Yoreh semicha, and have been trained in the laws of kashrus as well as the international standards of the major kosher organisations.
